In this guide we show you how to create an assignment step-by-step. Once logged in and in the right classroom, press “Evaluations” followed by “Assignments” as shown in the image.
For the momento being, no assignments have been created. Press “Create Assignment”.
All the options to create your assignment should now unfold:
-Title: fill in a name for your assignment
-Start Date: Choose a start date, this is important for 2 reasons: (1) it will mark the event on the calendar (2) If you choose to publish the assignment automatically in “Others”, once the start date arrives, your assignment will be published automatically. This allows you to plan and work ahead.
-End Date: Choose an end date, this is important because if you choose to publish the assignment automatically in “Others”, once the end date arrives, your assignment will close automatically and your students can no longer hand in their assignments. Important: the closing time for the automatic option is fixed at 23:59 GMT +0 of that date. For example, Chile is in the GMT +3 time zone, which means that the assigment will close at 20:59 of a particular end date.
-Description: In this field you should explain what the assignment is about, step-by-step, instructions, etc.
-Attachment: If you want to upload some exercises for your students to complete, here is where you should do that.
-Others: This gives you the option to publish the assignment automatically or manually. The “Auto” option publishes and closes according to the Start and End Date. The “Manual” option “forgets” about these dates so you can publish and close whenever you wish to.
Once finished editing your assignment, press “Finish Editing” to save.
Once pressed, the assignment options should fold back and now show your recently created assignment.
An assignment has 3 states according to the filled in dates:
Open: The assignment is live.
Closed: The assignment is closed.
Pending: Have not reached the Start Date yet.
